Kathleen - I couldn't agree more with you. There are marked differences between comparing a pet wolf with a wild one living with packs.

Under good conditions people will never encounter wolves, however, circumstances can change that. You may want to consider reading this bit of information as a way to better understand what CAN happen.

I had a friend who had his own wolf that he raised as a pet. He assured me that wolves have been wrongly accused of attaching humans, that they never do that. I see that you are saying something different here. He even showed a dvd all about how gentle and smart wolves are, and that they make great pets.

I guess that we may be talking about two different wolves: one raised as a pet, the other growing up in the wild, as a member of a pack.

That's my comment. They are magnificent animals, but it would be nice to feel safe around one.

Dear Mr Remington,
I am a member of the German Society for Protection of Wolves, the Gesellschaft zum Schutz der Wölfe (GzSdW; www.gzsdw.de).
Prof. Dr. Paul Paquet (university of Calgary) held different lectures at different times/years during the "International Symposia on Canids" in Bergisch Gladbach (near Cologne/Germany).
Can you pass on this mail to him?
I worked as a youg man in the zoo of Frankfurt/Main (Gerrmany),however I became a specialst of Verterinary Pathology and worked many years as toxicopathologst.

I am a fan of canids and have already an autograph from Professor Paquet!

I Invite him and also you to write a comment into my virtual guest book. The explanations in this book are written in German. If you will have problems, do not hesitate to ask me. There are two comments in English. I ask you for an answer. Many thanks in advance!
Yours sincerly to Professor Paquet and you,
